Organic coffee is a coffee produced using sustainable farming methods. It is grown and controlled in accordance with EU Laws and Regulations concerning the ecological cultivation of land. To be classified as organic, the coffee plant:
- must not be genetically modified
- must only be treated with natural pest control agents
- must be grown without using mineral nitrogen fertilizers
In contrast to the Fairtrade-Kaffee label, the label Organic Coffee doesn't say anything about the working conditions and payment for the farmers and workers involved.
